Cable Bay Vineyards is delighted to be judged winner of the 2010 Metro/Audi Restaurant of the Year Awards, Best Service category.

Cable Bay's restaurant manager, Andi Reilly, knows this.  He's a most affable host, always out among the tables, and his influence is clear in the work of a dedicated and charming waitstaff.  In a tourist spot like Waiheke Island it can be hard to shake the cruisy, nothing-really-matters Kiwi approach, but that's exactly what Cable Bay has done.

Cable Bay’s Operations Manager, Andi Reilly, has been managing the restaurant and front of house staff since its opening in 2007.  “We are absolutely thrilled with the accolade.  Our service style is always professional, yet we strive to maintain a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.  For a Waiheke Island establishment to be recognised as one of the best in the greater Auckland region is just fantastic,” comments Andi.

This is the second consecutive year that the Cable Bay restaurant has been recognised as being one of the top 50 restaurants in Auckland and comes hot on the heels of being voted Best Place to Watch the Sunset in 2009.

“The team have been working very hard on all aspects of the dining experience at Cable Bay and this is well deserved recognition.  This has been our busiest summer and it is fantastic to know that even when the team are under enormous pressure, our service maintains its high standards” comments Cable Bay’s CEO, Doug Todd.

Cable Bay restaurant is open for lunch Thursday - Monday from 12 noon and dinner Friday and Saturday from 6pm.

Not to mention a mass of wonderful reviews from regular diners, and it is these accolades which really count.

Our Chef Will Thorpe who has been with us from the opening, brings a no fuss style to the kitchen.  Without foam or froth or 'fiddlyness' to hide behind, Will focuses on fresh produce cooked simply to enhance the flavour and maintain the integrity of the ingredients.

Our winery complex includes many different aspects of Cable Bay's operations. The main building houses the Winery, Restaurant, Wine Bar, Tasting Room and The Motukaha Room, our private room for business meetings and private dinners, as well as the company’s administration. In the grounds surrounding the main building are working vineyards, olive groves and the vineyard office.

The Motukaha Room can host meetings, corporate events and private dinners for up to 30 people.

Cable Bay Restaurant & Wine Bar Hours:  Lunch Thursday - Monday from 12 noon, Dinner Friday & Saturday from 6pm.  Reservations recommended. The Restaurant seats 75 inside and 35 in the alfresco courtyard.  

The Tasting Room is open from 11am to 5pm, 7 days a week. Tastings cost $8 for 6 wines.
