Cable Bay Vineyards is delighted to be judged a finalist in the Cuisine Restaurant of the Year Awards 2010.  This places the Cable Bay restaurant amongst the top 50 restaurants throughout New Zealand.

 “We are delighted to again be a finalist in these prestigious awards.  This is another fantastic endorsement for the quality that can be found on Waiheke, and following so closely behind the Metro Awards is a wonderful compliment to the team’s consistency,” says Cable Bay Operations Manager Andi Reilly.


Now in its sixth year, the Cuisine NZ Restaurant of the Year Awards is the only national restaurant competition in New Zealand. Finalists are visited anonymously by at least two judges, lead by New Zealand food and wine critic Kerry Tyack.  Tyack has a wealth of experience in food and wine, and is regarded as one of the most experienced food and restaurant judges in the country.

“These are undoubtedly the most important restaurant awards in New Zealand,” Tyack says, “assessed by leading local food and wine experts and a highly respected international judge.


The judges look for top-quality ingredients, selected with attention to season and region, as well as wines carefully selected to match the food, clientele and establishment.  All this delivered by knowledgeable and professional staff. Principally, Cuisine says they want to find restaurants who successfully deliver what they set out to do.

“Our service style is always professional, yet we strive to maintain a friendly and welcoming atmosphere,” says Andi.  “This is the second time that Cable Bay has been a finalist in the Cuisine Awards and for the team to be recognised in this way gives them a much needed boost at the end of a busy season.”

 

Cable Bay restaurant is open for lunch Thursday - Monday from 12 noon and dinner Friday and Saturday from 6pm.

Not to mention a mass of wonderful reviews from regular diners, and it is these accolades which really count.

Our Chef Will Thorpe who has been with us from the opening, brings a no fuss style to the kitchen.  Without foam or froth or 'fiddlyness' to hide behind, Will focuses on fresh produce cooked simply to enhance the flavour and maintain the integrity of the ingredients.

Our winery complex includes many different aspects of Cable Bay's operations. The main building houses the Winery, Restaurant, Wine Bar, Tasting Room and The Motukaha Room, our private room for business meetings and private dinners, as well as the company’s administration. In the grounds surrounding the main building are working vineyards, olive groves and the vineyard office.

The Motukaha Room can host meetings, corporate events and private dinners for up to 30 people.

Cable Bay Restaurant & Wine Bar Hours:  Lunch Thursday - Monday from 12 noon, Dinner Friday & Saturday from 6pm.  Reservations recommended. The Restaurant seats 75 inside and 35 in the alfresco courtyard.  

The Tasting Room is open from 11am to 5pm, 7 days a week. Tastings cost $5 for 6 wines.
